I have lived in Utah my whole life, and have only heard of the beauty that is the Alpine Loop.
Until THIS Fall, when I finally experienced this stunning little canyon cruise myself.
The Alpine Loop spans from American Fork Canyon to Provo Canyon, and is open from late May to late October. It is about 20 miles and well paved, although very narrow throughout most of it.
To find this little gem, get off the Timpanogos Highway exit (Utah State Route 92) and follow it all the way up through the American Fork Canyon. The road is well marked, and if you stay on the 92 it will take you all the way up and around through the brilliant trees, and killer Mt. Timp views.
The drive takes about an hour, but we stopped and got out to enjoy the the leaves up close– as well as a little wander around Cascade Springs.
These pictures from the car do not even do justice, but this is a little taste of the delicious fall colors, visible from the road.
