It is a lot of work to do Disneyland with a Toddler!
Experiencing life with Remi is the best. Those big blue eyes full of curiosity and wonder for the world around her, it is pure magic.
This year we were spoiled, and got to experience Remi’s first time at Disneyland with almost the entire Mellen family!
I have researched and learned first hand– many Disneyland hacks and secrets over the years, and I want to share the best ones with you!
BEFORE YOU GO
When you are going to Disneyland with a toddler or even a large group: lower your expectations of what you are going to see.
Compile a list of everyone’s wishes, and prioritize it.
Pack up your bags, strollers and coolers. Don’t forget a reusable water bottle to fill up at their many fill stations.
Download the official Disneyland app.
This app offers a map of Disneyland, as well as current wait times and mobile food and beverage orders. You will need it, if you want to join the virtual queue for “Rise of the Resistance” in their new Star Wars land.
It is so important to have really good walking shoes.
GET THERE EARLY.
My favorite times I have gone to Disneyland, we have stayed within a mile walking distance of the park. That way we can just walk over first thing in the morning instead of dealing with parking and the shuttle.
If you are parking there, and have a stroller– load up your stroller and walk from the parking structure, that way you don’t have to deal with folding up the stroller to fit on the tram. You can also rent a stroller just outside the park for $18, or an all-day locker for $7-10 once you are inside.
You want to be ready to go with your sunblock on, RIGHT when the park opens. Get ready to walk right on to your #1 favorite big ride first.
Tip: Ride the Matterhorn first if you are a fan– because it does not offer a fast pass.
All 28 of us went on Pirates of the Caribbean first. It was the perfect first ride for my Remi girl. It was fun to see her eyes big, blue eyes soaking in the entire experience.
HEAD TO FANTASY LAND NEXT
Peter Pan, the tea cups, Dumbo, and all the classic rides right there in Fantasy Land get extra crowded in the afternoon and evening. They also do not offer fast passes or stroller swaps.
GET A FREE BUTTON SOUVENIR
For special occasions, birthdays and first time at Disneyland, make sure to stop and get your free pin from any stand, or store on Main Street.
UTILIZE THE FASTPASS, AND THE RIDER SWITCH.
UTILIZE NAP TIME
Take advantage of nap time and rest your feet, catch a show, or rider swap your favorite adult ride.
