“Sewing is harder than it seams”
———————————————–
Sewing [ soh-ing ] is the craft of fastening or attaching objects using stitches made with a sewing needle and thread.
According to Wikipedia it is one of the oldest of the textile arts.
For as long as I can remember my Grandma Mellen has been the best seamstress I know. She was always up in her sewing room creating something very beautiful and perfect from quilts to dolls.
She can truly can whip out ANYTHING with that sewing machine of hers.
Some of my all time favorite things she has helped me craft up are: mini jean skirts out of my favorite ripped jeans, our band t-shirt quilt, and many, many incredible costumes over the years– including my Sally dress, and our authentic looking Harry Potter house robes!
I feel very lucky and honored growing up witnessing and learning from this master seamstress. Although there is SO much I have yet to learn, I love that I can whip out my own sewing machine to create, mend, or hem something if I need to. Hopefully Remi will learn to love and appreciate how special sewing really is.
This art I feel like is underrated and under-appreciated, but gosh it sure is handy and fun.
