Let me tell you about a dreamy little spot in Mexico:
David & I went on a romantic little getaway this past March, just us two. We traveled to both Tulum and Cancun, Mexico. Our first trip away since having a baby– long overdue. [She is TWO!] We spent two magical nights at a posh hotel called: Nerea, just outside of Tulum. Followed by two wild nights in Cancun at the all inclusive Fiesta Americana.
NEREA:
Nerea is a little boutique hotel that just opened a few months prior. It is located away from the city and right on the beach. It is very intimate and the food is DIVINE. The perfect place to unwind and enjoy the private beach front to ourselves. I picked this place because they have free use of the paddle-boards, kayaks and bikes. I especially love the boho vibes and we both love the hammocks on the dock. The rooms are visually stunning and clean, with a very large bath and shower. We definitely want to go back and stay again, soon.
The ocean is very shallow here, almost as far as you can go. Not the best place to swim and play, but perfect for paddle-boarding and kayaking! This place is very remote from most everything but there is a cenote within walking distance; and it is a short taxi ride to the city of Tulum.
THE FOOD
Fiesta Americana
The all inclusive Fiesta Americana– DUN DUN DUUUUUN! While we were waiting to check in, a server brought us both a bloody mary, AND a beer. From that moment, Dave never wanted to leave this place. This was our first time experiencing the glory that is: all-inclusive.
The food was actually pretty decent, and the drinks were never-ending. The hotel itself was beautiful, and the beach was STELLAR. Everyone is respectfully wasted and enjoying themselves– people from all over the world. We met a lot of friends, and just had such a blast together. They are freaking genius and attach your room key to your wrist bands!
The highlight of the whole trip was playing in the warm ocean waves! The pool always had fun and entertainment, and the beaches were not too crowded. The unlimited room service meant breakfast in bed, and lots of late night snacks. It was nice living on island time, sleeping in, and having no responsibilities for a couple days. We both got hair wraps, and henna tattoos!
The Mayan Ruins in Tulum
David has always wanted to check out the Mayan Ruins, in Tulum– and they did not disappoint. The grounds and energy here is powerfully beautiful. We got a kick out of the many lizards roaming the greens. We got a little haggled on the way to the ruins, but ultimately loved checking out the many keepsakes and tokens of the local people. We also enjoyed some authentic Mexican food and Coronas!
adios mexico, we will be back.
Next time in Cancun, we want to check out: Market 28, Xcaret, and take a boat to Isla Mujeres! I want to explore more Centoes too.
Are you more of a romantic boutique style hotel– or do you like the wild all-inclusive??
